"On the Floor" is an up-tempo dance-pop song set in the common time signature of 130 beats per minute, combining electropop and electro house genres with elements of Latin beats. It also incorporates elements of the Los Kjarkas song "Llorando Se Fue," most commonly known for its use in Kaoma's 1989 hit single, "Lambada."
